My Surgeries!

Well, after having my surgery post-poned til 18th April, I was worried sick at the prospect of it being post-poned again. But nope! It happened on the 18th as finally planned. Though the operation itself didn't go as planned. It seems my gallbladder gave the Surgeons headaches. It was inflamed & swollen a bit so it took longer to remove than normal.

Whilst I was in recovery, a Surgeon spoke to me. "Whilst we were operating we noticed 2 shadows in your bile duct. We think it may be more stones but we need to go back in and take a good look before we can work out what it really is! Oh and by the way, how long have you had an irregular heartbeat?" eeeeeek!

Then a nurse spoke to me "What drugs does your GP have you on for your high blood pressure? It was extremely high and we lost your pulse a few times there!" Not exactly comforting words!

So my overnight stay extended to 5 days.

On the 21st I was back in operating theatre having a camera etc stuck down my throat. A few hours later I woke up with a sore throat. In recovery a Surgeon spoke to me. "We found 1 stone & lots of shrapnel. Your bile ducts looked like a war zone, all pitted & inflamed, but we are sure we got everything out. Looks like you have had stuff in there for years!"

In recovery, a nurse placed a lavendar soaked piece of material next to me. "Other patients have claimed this calms them down and lowers their blood pressure!" How was she to know strong smells set of my Asthma. Well my blood pressure shot up quick smart. "It seems to have the opposite effect with you!" She quickly removed the offending piece of material.
